18 is ex Italian Military and was then sold to a museum in Italy, eventually the museum sold her to a UK motor museum where she sat for a number of years on the outskirts of London where we purchased her in late 2015.
She is the only privately owned static Huey
in the UK on the show scene.
PRESENT UNITS MARKINGS
Bird 18 is marked up US Marine
Corps from VMO-6 Observation Squadron which saw extensive action on Okinawa
during WW2 and went on to serve during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. VMO-6 became the first USMC helicopter squadron to participate in combat operations during the Battle of Pusan Perimeter in August 1950.
They flew Sikorsky H03S helicopters in Korea.
